Christmas Tree Festival 2010

THE INVITATION: to local businesses and organisations

We would like to invite you, together with all local businesses and organisations, to take part in our Christmas Tree Festival to be held at St John’s Church from Thursday 2nd December to Sunday 5th December 2010.

The idea is that each organisation will decorate a tree in their own individual style reflecting their business or organisation. The trees will be on display in the church for the four day long festival which will attract a wide range of visitors.  We hope that the trees will be imaginatively and creatively decorated to advertise your organisation. For example, a hairdresser might decorate the tree with coloured rollers or hairnets with sparkly ribbons, a DIY tree with packets of screws or small tools, or a greengrocer with carrots, Satsuma’s and nuts!

The Event

The four day Festival will be open each day, and also include the following evening events to attract as many visitors as possible : -

Thursday evening / Dec 2nd - Naomi House ‘Light up a Life’ Carol service and Opening ceremony

Friday evening / Dec 3rd - Concert by St John’s Primary School (with Father Christmas!)

Saturday evening / Dec 4th - Quiz night with Ploughman’s

Sunday evening / Dec 5th - Christmas Concert given by Havant Light Opera Company,                                                 (followed by mulled wine and mince pies)

The opportunity

This is a really opportunity to to celebrate and share with others all that you do in and for the community'  and to promote your company to local residents in the area. All proceeds from this event will be given to the Naomi House Children’s Hospice, a charity that provides support to children and young people with conditions that mean they are unlikely to live to become adults.  There will also be a Festival Programme where your company or organization will be featured.

.

What to do to take part

Initially we would ask you to accept the invitation to take part and book your tree site by e-mailing us at admin@saintjohnschurch.org.uk as soon as possible.  Already a number of organisations are signed up and there is still time for you to join in. Space is restricted so please reply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

We will later be asking you for a donation of £25 to cover the cost of the Christmas tree which we will provide for you to decorate just before the event in December. You will need to supply a stand for the tree and the necessary decorations and any lights. The tree is yours to take away after the Festival closes.

There will be an Open Evening for all signed up sponsors on Monday 4th October at St John’s Church where final arrangements will be explained and where you can select the site in the church where you would like to put your tree.

The church will be open for the trees to be decorated all day on Wed 1st Dec and on the morning of Thursday the 2nd December.

We hope that you will accept our invitation to take part in this event and look forward to hearing from you soon.

In anticipation of your support we thank you

Yours sincerely
