- SAINT JOHN'S MISSION STATEMENT

As a church, we believe that our mission on earth is to honour and worship God, and to bring people to Jesus.

Our mission statement is;
In response to God's love in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to be CHRIST'S LOVE IN ACTION

Fulfilling our Mission

We believe our church must live out biblical principles to fulfil our mission by:

1. Worshipping

Our desire is:

To give God honour and worship.

To gather as a family in the presence of the One who alone is worthy of our devotion and praise.

2. Using the Power of Prayer

We seek to be people of prayer who communicate with God and respond to his loving will.

3. Equipping Ourselves to live and serve

We endeavour:

To teach the truth of Scripture, to encourage personal growth in faith, and to equip every member for ministry.

To live as a caring community marked by committed relationships, mutual concern, loving support and genuine encouragement.

4. Being outward-looking and witnessing, serving the community and the wider church

We endeavour:

To show Christ's love in action wherever God has placed us by ministering to those in need of spiritual, physical and emotional support.

To make it easy for people to meet with Jesus

To provide ministry
Ministry is service rendered to God or to people - it serves God's purposes in the world. It is based on 3 New Testament
foundational truths; the priesthood of all believers, the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the example of Jesus.

- OUR CORE VALUES ARE:

Value 1: We believe that God's inspired word is the basis for all ministry and mission.

Biblically based in all we do.

Value 2: We believe that anointed teaching is the catalyst for transformation in individuals' lives and in the church.

This includes teaching for life change.

Value 3: We believe that people who do not yet know Jesus matter to God and therefore matter to the church.

We aim to know Jesus and to make Him known. Evangelism is a process and is achieved through relationships.

Value 4: We believe that church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure.

Continually use new ways of engaging people with the message of God's love and being used by God to bring them to places of faith-decisions and spiritual growth. We are open to trying new approaches but will not compromise the truth of our faith.

Value 5: We believe that followers of Jesus Christ should demonstrate authenticity and desire continuous growth.

Walk the talk, bible study, prayer and practise of spiritual disciplines.

Value 6: We believe that every member of the church has a God-given contribution to make to the life of the church and every contribution is equally valued by God.

Follow the model of Jesus in growing disciples who see themselves as ministers of Christ. Help each person to discover their gifting and call to ministry and to equip, empower and mobilise them for meaningful service.

Value 7: We believe that followers of Jesus Christ should desire to be led by the Holy Spirit into new ministry opportunities as he works in their lives.

We desire to be a church which is based on Spirit-led initiatives which lead us into new arenas of ministry.

Value 8: We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life.

Relationships based on commitment, trust, forgiveness, positive encouragement, love, mutual care, accountability and truthfulness.

Value 9: We believe that Christian transformation happens most effectively in 'Growth Groups'.

Educate, challenge, and grow with the result that lives will be radically changed.

Value 10: We believe that excellence honours God and inspires people.

Our Lord is worthy of our best efforts.

Value 11: We believe that Leaders should follow the example of Christ as the Head of the Church.

Follow the model of Christ, the servant leader and seek to know his will through prayer. Show flexibility in the face of changing demands upon the church. Make strong efforts to unite the church in a common vision.
